What are FIRST and FRC?

FIRST

FIRST® inspires young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.

For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, or FIRST, is a global nonprofit dedicated to building skills amongst the rising generations.

FIRST does this by creating robotics competitions for different grade levels, including FLL, FRC, and FTC. FLL, or FIRST Lego League, is a competition for elementary and middle schoolers. FTC, or FIRST Tech Challenge, is a competition for middle and high schoolers. FRC, or FIRST Robotics Challenge, is a competition for high schoolers.

FRC

FRC, or FIRST Robotics Competition, is a robotics competition conducted by FIRST for students in grades 9-12.

In FRC, students are challenged to construct an industrial size robot to accomplish certain field objectives. They are constrained to a six week build period, which they must adhere to as they follow the engineering design process.

Students are also challenged to demonstrate commitment to FIRST's mission by creating initiative programs, and outreaching to develop impact within their local community.

FRC teaches students the power of unity within teams and organizations. As part of an FRC team, students must raise appropriate funds, generate a team brand, and display Gracious Professionalism and the FIRST Core Values.

"To transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders."  Dean Kamen, Founder of FIRST

"Combining the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology". We call FIRST Robotics Competition the ultimate Sport for the Mind. High-school student participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have.”

Who Are We?

Who We Are: We are FIRST Robotics FRC Team #4112, the EagleBots. We are a high school team, based out of South Forsyth High School in Cumming, Georgia. We were founded in 2012, and are now in our 12th season competing in FRC. We are sustainable through our various supporters, who are listed on our Sponsors page.

What We Do: We compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) each year, producing a robot in our six week build period. We also conduct various initiatives within our local community to make the world a better place. This includes increasing accessibility within our team, inspiring younger generations to participate in STEM, helping the environment, and much more.

Why We Do This: All high school students who join our team benefit in various ways. Being a member of the #4112 EagleBots allows our members to learn pivotal skills from CAD to OOP to Machining to Public Speaking to Creativity to Teamwork to Leadership. Our team provides high school students with a powerful robotics experience, helping them excel in their future. Our initiatives allow us to help out within our local community in causes we are devoted to. You can learn more about those on our Outreach page.

How We Do It: Our team is composed of four different departments: CAD & Design, Manufacturing & Assembly, Business & Outreach, and Programming. Each of our departments conducts a different function, and they function together to work cohesively as the EagleBots, and function successfully during both our competition season and our offseason.

Our Mission Statement

“Our goal is to create an environment that sparks creativity and passion within our members and talented youths in all fields of STEM as we use teamwork and cooperation to try and create a better tomorrow.”
